ATLANTIC BEACH WOMAN CLAIMS TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Lottery announced today that MEGA MONEY™ winner Linda Branch, of Atlantic Beach, claimed the $1.2 million MEGA MONEY jackpot drawn on November 17. According to Branch, she always plays the same numbers every week. "All the numbers represent my kid's birthdays," she said. Winning is not new to Branch, who previously won FANTASY 5® years ago, however, this is her first million-dollar win. Branch said she plans to invest her new winnings after she buys a new house and car. Branch chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for her winnings in the amount of $885,970.20. She purchased her winning MEGA MONEY ticket at Winn Dixie, located at 1209 Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $1,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $1.3 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.
