THE FLORIDA LOTTERY TO JOIN INDUSTRY LEADERS TO RECOGNIZE PROBLEM GAMBLING AWARENESS MONTH
TALLAHASSEE - On Monday, the Florida Lottery (Lottery) will join the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to celebrate the 19th annual Problem Gambling Awareness Month. The month of March is dedicated to raising awareness of the prevention, treatment, and recovery services available for those adversely affected by gambling.
''The purpose of the month is to help people have the conversation about problem gaming,'' said Florida Lottery Secretary John F. Davis. ''At the Florida Lottery, responsible gaming is at the heart of everything we do; we believe that ensuring every Lottery player plays within their means and knows their limits will create a safer playing environment for everyone.''
''Scientific Games commends the Florida Lottery for its efforts to build responsible gaming best practices into their operations,'' said Pat McHugh, EVP & Lottery Group Chief Executive for Scientific Games. ''As one of the world's first companies to be certified as a responsible gaming supplier, we share the Florida Lottery's commitment to healthy play and will maintain our global, year-round support of responsible gaming organizations such as the National Council on Problem Gaming, and continue to advance our innovation of responsible gaming tools and technology to benefit players worldwide.''
''IGT fully supports the Florida Lottery's efforts to ensure players are educated about the benefits of playing responsibly,'' said Jay Gendron, IGT Chief Operating Officer, Lottery. ''As the global leader in lottery, our commitment to responsible gaming is recognized by some of the world's most respected oranizations, including the NCPG. We take pride in that leadership and will continue to work with the Florida Lottery to help implement best practices to constantly safeguard players' interests.''
The Lottery is committed to building responsible gaming best practices into all aspects of its operations. We received the highest level of responsible gaming certification from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) and NCPG in 2018; and a certification for responsible gaming from the World Lottery Association (WLA) in 2019.
